Kirindy Mitea National Park represents a recognized hotbed of local endemism and diversity, linked to the presence of biotopes in the south and west of Madagascar. It has many attractions, due to the combination of many ecosystems, all remarkable, and each with a particularly rich flora and fauna. The park was created on December 18, 1997 by decree n° 97 1453 and its management was entrusted to ANGAP on November 2000. It is included in the district of Morondava and is located 90 km south of this city, between the Maharivo and Lampaolo rivers, bordering the Mozambique Channel. Kirindy Mite National Park covers an area of 72,200 ha. According to the classification of PAs for existing conservation measures, it is classified in strategy A in the GRAP Plan.
